Are the Stresses of Life getting on you? Find Grace to take you through another Day.
Welcome to Grace for the Day!
We face real life challenges and handle them the best we can. But we are often clueless about what to do from God’s point of view. Few of us would face the same level of stress Daniel faced. He became a war captive at a young age and was forced into the service king Nebuchadnezzar in ancient Babylon. He was tempted to abandon God and to live like the people around him. He rose to prominence only to sink into obscurity again. He was thrown to the lions because of his faith in Almighty God. And though it all, he triumphed.
He triumphed over his adversities and adversaries because he could see clearly and he acted rightly. Right action begins with a clarity of vision. The ability to handle the stresses of life begin with a clear picture of where we are in God’s scheme of things.
Jesus said, “Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you” (Luke 11:34-35).
If our eyes are good, light enters the body. If they are bad, the body is in darkness on account of the eyes. If we see things clearly, other things fall in place. If we cannot see things clearly, we will stumble about in darkness.
We find Grace for the Day when our eyes are good. When we cannot see right, we cannot do right.
The Word of God is our starting point because it is “living and active … it discerns the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Heb 4:12). When the Word of God speak to us, it transforms us from the inside out. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). The Word of God provides a clear instructions amid the babble of competing voices.
